What is Bimzlex and how does it work?

Bimzlex is a biologic injection that targets IL-17, a pro-inflammatory signal of your immune system that causes psoriasis. By calming this overactive response, Bimzlex helps reduce redness, plaque development and pain in your skin and joints.

How do I take Bimzlex?

Your Zest team will customize your care based on your goals and how your body responds. Here’s what to expect:

Getting started

To get ready and ensure this treatment is safe and effective you’ll need to complete the following:

  • Submit baseline photos for your skin severity assessment.
  • Complete laboratory screening: tuberculosis and metabolic function screening.
  • Provide previous treatment records, if requested.

Can I reduce my doses over time?

Yes! Once your symptoms are under control, your Zest dermatology provider will work with you to create a long-term plan. This might include stretching out injection intervals or taking planned medication breaks when appropriate.

Is it safe? Are there side effects?

Most side effects are mild and may improve with time. These can include:

  • Redness or swelling at the injection site
  • Upper respiratory and oral yeast infections
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea

Your Zest team will help you navigate insurance, co-pay programs, and assistance options to make it as affordable as possible.  In addition, we ensure you only take the necessary amount of medication to meet your skin health needs.
