Remission-Centered Cost Relief for Psoriasis & Eczema

Clinically meaningful high-touch care relieves the burden of your highest cost members within plan year.

Key Highlights

One program, 65.5% reduction in average disease impact

Patients entered the program with substantial quality-of-life impairment, with an average DLQI of 11.6. By their final assessment, average DLQI had fallen to 4.0—a 65.5% reduction in disease impact.

Severe disease burden fell from 51% to 12%

At enrollment, more than half of patients had DLQI scores indicating a severe impact on their lives. By their latest assessment, only 12% remained in that category, while 75% had moved into the mild-impact range. Fewer members in the “Severe” bucket means fewer members likely driving escalation, non-adherence, and downstream cost.

Meaningful improvement begins within weeks

By the second encounter—an average of approximately 44 days after enrollment—35.6% of the full cohort had already achieved a clinically meaningful improvement in DLQI. That increased to 59.9% by the third encounter and 66.3% by final follow-up. These outcomes emerge quickly enough to be visible within annual plan performance and reporting cycles.

The clinical foundation for smarter dermatology spend

Our latest study examines what happens when eczema and psoriasis are managed continuously, not episodically. Published in Dermatology Practical & Conceptual with researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, the analysis followed 329 patients through Zest’s virtual, high-access care model. By the second encounter, 35.6% had achieved a clinically meaningful improvement in quality of life, and by final follow-up the proportion experiencing severe disease burden had fallen from 51% to 12%.

Specialty drug management is often approached primarily as a pharmacy problem. But optimizing high-cost therapy requires something health plans rarely have: ongoing visibility into the patient’s clinical status.

Zest creates the clinical infrastructure to identify who needs more care, who is doing well, and where treatment can be optimized—aligning better patient outcomes with more responsible specialty drug spend.
