Employee Benefits News: Why it's time to invest in dermatology benefits

Interview with Olivia Deitcher of Zest Health

The CEO of value-based dermatology company Olivia Deitcher spoke with Employee Benefit News about the importance of employers investing in dermatology benefits.

Dermatology care is often overlooked in employer health strategies, despite its impact on both healthcare costs and employee well-being and that 1 in 4 Americans live with skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

This is often because employees face long wait times for dermatology services and are pushed towards expensive drugs like biologics to treat their condition. Olivia notes that these costly tools are not always an efficient use of specialty drug spend and employees are still being underserved for their chronic condition.

She notes how companies like Zest Health are working with employers to close these gaps by improving access to care and delivering more personalized, ongoing support for chronic skin conditions.

Olivia also notes that when dermatology care is ineffective, symptoms can worsen—affecting not only health, but also an employees’ ability to perform at work. She emphasized that offering benefits that truly support employees should be a fundamental priority for employers.
