Yes — and it works especially well for skin diseases like psoriasis and eczema. So much of your skin is about what your skin looks like. Clear photos and videos can give your care team what they need to treat you. Virtual care also means you can get seen faster, follow-ups are easier, and your care team can keep a close eye on how your skin is doing over time.
Phototherapy, also known as light therapy, is a medical treatment that involves exposing a person to specific wavelengths of light to treat various health conditions. The process works by influencing biological processes in the body through light absorption. The light energy is absorbed by T-11 helper cells and tissues, which aids in reducing symptoms caused by chronic skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.
Eligible patients can schedule a virtual visit within just a few days, with many being seen as soon as the next day. No wait times so you can manage your skin disease, and prescriptions as soon as possible.
No referral is needed to get started with Zest.
Yes. All Zest Health appointments are conducted online through Zoom. You will meet with an experienced clinician through video meeting, from anywhere you have a secure internet connection.
Yes. Through our messaging application, you have 24/7 access to your Zest care team. You can ask questions, report changes in symptoms, or request medication adjustments.
If your condition requires in-person testing, procedures, or physical exams that cannot be completed virtually, Zest will help get care with a local provider.
Virtual dermatology visits through Zest Health are available at no cost. This includes virtual visits with your care team, medication management, and secure messaging. Standard copays or coinsurance may still apply for prescriptions depending on your pharmacy benefits.
Prescription costs vary based on your pharmacy benefits. Your clinician will work with you to ensure coverage for your treatment is affordable.
Phototherapy is widely covered by most major insurance providers and presents little to no out-of-pocket costs to patients. In addition, Phothera believes that the lack of coverage should never be a reason for not having access to needed treatment. This is why the Phothera team will work directly with you and your insurance to find maximum coverage, and, if any out-of-pocket costs remain, Phothera offers patient assistance programs designed to alleviate financial burden – ensuring clear skin and peace of mind.
If Zest Health is not included in your current plan or employment benefits, we may offer a cash-pay option or help you explore alternative solutions. Contact membersupport@zesthealth.com for more details.
Zest Health provides a full range of treatment for psoriasis and eczema. Depending on what your skin needs, your care team may recommend creams, moisturizers, pills, or other medications — including shots for more serious cases. Your doctor will put together a plan just for you, with the goal of reducing flares, calming irritation, and helping your skin feel and look better over time.
Yes. Just like at any other clinic, Zest clinicians can prescribe and refill medications. During your visit, they’ll assess your condition, review your medical history, and collaborate with you on what treatment plan is right for you. Prescriptions are sent directly to your preferred local pharmacy, or to your designated speciality pharmacy when necessary.
You can request a prescription refill at any time through your Zest Health portal. Your care team will review your request and typically send the refill to your pharmacy within 24–48 hours. If needed, your clinician may recommend a follow-up visit before issuing a refill.
If you’re experiencing a flare-up, you can message your care team through the application. Your care team will review your symptoms and recommend next steps, which may include adjustments to medications, treatment plan, self-care guidance, or a same-week appointment.
The time it takes to see results depends on the severity of your condition and the treatment approach. Many patients experience symptom improvement after one or two visits. Your clinician will track your progress and adjust your plan over time to ensure long-term relief.
Your care team includes board-certified dermatologists, licensed nurse practitioners, physician assistants and care coordinators who specialize in treating psoriasis and eczema. Each member is trained to support patients living with chronic skin conditions through personalized, evidence-based care.
